According to Sports Illustrated’s annual analysis, the endorsement earnings of 2010 for golf legend, Tiger Woods were estimated to be $22 million less than the previous year. In 2009, the highest-earning American athletes’ list showed Woods’ endorsement estimated at around $128 million. Thus, numbers went down drastically.

Did Woods lose his no. 1 ranking too? No. In the annual “Fortunate 50” list by Sports Illustrated, they ranked him no.1 on the list with more than $90 million. But according to AP, the numbers from 2009 showed that his endorsement deals dropped to $70 million from $92 million. The masters championship winner lost Gatorade, AT&T, and Accenture, but he had Nike. Although it was not a surprise that he lost $22 million, he struggled with alleged scandals, and his professional performance was also affected.

According to the SI, Woods’ longtime rival, Phil Mickelson followed him and landed on number two with a $61.7 million in endorsements. Famous athletes like Floyd Mayweather Jr. earned $60.3M, and LeBron James made $45.8M, landing on third and fourth positions, respectively. Alex Rodriguez, Shaquille O’Neal, the late Kobe Bryant, Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning, and Dwyane Wade were part of the top 10 but were all behind the golf legend.

Woods had many difficulties in his personal and professional life; however, he never gave up and fought back vigorously. According to Forbes, his hard work and dedication have resulted in a whopping net worth of at least $1 billion.

He has won around $121 million in prize money, which was more than any other golfer in history. Woods was on Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes, continuously for 10 years until 2012.
