Golf’s biggest controversy perhaps didn’t occur until 2022. After all, that is when LIV Golf emerged. Ever since then, the LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour feud has been raging on. But, despite the continuous lashes between the two, the players have started to come forward to praise the other side at times. Recently, Phil Mickelson, a hardcore advocate of the Saudi League, also extended praise to a PGA Tour pro. Through his remarks, though, he may have burned his own LIV colleague.
With Mickelson’s remarks being in favor of the PGA Tour pro, has he perhaps forgotten about all the hard work his fellow leaguemate, Brooks Koepka, did during the PGA Championship?

Phil Mickelson sings the praises of a PGA Tour pro
June 4, 2023, was an exciting day for the golf fraternity. The historic Memorial Tournament was concluded in Ohio, where Viktor Hovland emerged victorious with his stunning score of 7 under. The other good news that made the day pretty exciting was that Rose Zhang, the current LPGA sensation, won in New Jersey in her professional debut event.
What astonished the golf fans more was that Lefty praised the 2023 Memorial Tournament winner and said that he is among the favorites to win the third major tournament of the season, the US Open. Mickelson congratulated the Norwegian golfer for his stellar win and showered him with compliments.

It seems with this tweet that the 6-time major champion has forgotten about the first LIV golfer to win a major tournament, Brooks Koepka. The 5-time major champion’s diligent efforts seem to be overlooked by his leaguemate, who has gone the extra mile to commend a fellow PGA tour professional.
With LIV golfers and PGA pros coming face-to-face again in less than a fortnight, it will definitely be interesting to see who takes the Claret Jug home. One thing may be certain, though: if it is from the Tour’s side, they may find Mickelson’s applause! After all, just days ago he went on to praise the PGA, despite their now-longstanding feud.

Mickelson sings high praise of the PGA
It does not happen every day when Mickelson praises someone or something, but when he does, he sure knows how to make it count. Despite finishing not as attractively as his major record-breaking runner-up position, he lauded the PGA on the PGA Championship and the set-up of the iconic golf course after completing the second round, barely making the cut.

To quote him, on Twitter he wrote, “Oak Hill is great major course and set up as I’ve seen. Well done PGA.” The golfer further added that the PGA had found the perfect sweet spot for the tough and intense competition of a major with their set-up.

While many would argue that these instances are just Lefty lauding the other side for its wins, others may see it as him softening up to his rivals. So which side of the story do you think it is? Let us know in the comments below.
