The 150th Open Championship recently concluded at St. Andrews in Scotland. Moreover, we saw fascinating golf throughout the week at the iconic Old Course. Furthermore, the Australian, Cameron Smith, snatched victory at the last moment from Rory McIlroy and registered his first ever major championship victory. 

Cam Smith carded -8 in the final round and finished with a score of -20. Meanwhile, 54-hole leader Rory McIlroy couldn’t match this excellence as he carded -2 and finished two strokes behind the Aussie. Smith received the iconic Claret Jug, which is the oldest major championship trophy. He also became the only Australian golfer to win the Open Championship since 1993. 

On the final day, the world’s No. 2 golfer annihilated the field and made five consecutive birdies from the 10th to the 14th hole. Moreover, this was the five-hole phase that gave him the push while the leader, Rory McIlroy, struggled to make birdies and eventually finished 3rd in the event.
