Nelly Korda shot for her first podcast interview with the No Laying Up podcast right after her victory at the Chevron Championship. As the hosts congratulated the 2-time major champion for her incredible win and streak, they ventured on the idea of what does not work for her on the golf course that people might not know.

Korda revealed the most annoying part of playing golf that most golfers suffer from and it is slow play. Like many, the 13-time LPGA Tour winner shared that she plays relatively faster than most on the field with her, and a slow day makes her go berserk at the course. She particularly talked about the final day at Carlton Woods.

Talking about the slow play at the Chevron Championship, Korda stated, “Honestly, I despise it; it drives me up a freaking wall. Like, it’s just that I just can’t stand it; it’s probably my biggest pet peeve.” However, the star player was aware that the final day would probably be the slowest of all, which is why she took some precautions that helped her out. Korda shared the things that she did to not focus more on the slow play, saying, “So I tried to not get ready for my like tee shots or my approach shots or my putting until it was quite my time to go. So I made sure that I was taking my time as well.”

It was a hectic day already, and if Korda hadn’t come prepared to tackle the slow play, she believed things would have turned out differently. As Korda said, when she knows she is ready but hasn’t started playing, overthinking takes over her mind. Which “doesn’t really suit me very well as overthinking on a golf course,” revealed the Bradenton native.

In the end, she sufficed her answer by giving away a common trait that doesn’t work for many women, saying, “Females, overthinking is not good!” Now that Korda has won her 13th title, when will she be seen again to showcase her iconic game?

Nelly Korda’s next stop on the LPGA Tour

Previously, the 13-time LPGA Tour winner had committed to play at the JM Eagle LA Championship. However, she had decided to opt out of the event. Korda told her fans about this decision via her Instagram story. She posted, “I have decided to withdraw from the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro.”

The reason behind her withdrawal was pretty simple: Korda wanted to relax and give her body time to recover. She explained how challenging the last few weeks have been and how winning in and out has been stressful, mentally and physically. Korda added, “I am definitely feeling exhausted. With so much still to come throughout 2024, I feel I need to listen to my body and get some rest, so I can be ready for the remainder of the season.”

After the LA Championship, the LPGA Tour will move to New Jersey for the Cognizant Founders Cup. And Korda would probably play at the Upper Montclair Country Club and get her redemption after missing the cut in 2023!
