Nearly every golf fan is aware of the high amount of respect Tiger Woods has for his father Earl Woods. The golfer has shared many stories from his childhood involving his army veteran father. However, when the mic was given to his late father to share a story of the Hall of Famer, he disclosed a school relationship of Tiger which was halted by Earl. But why did Sr. Woods do this?

Why did Earl force Tiger Woods to break up?

Four years before his death in 2006, Earl Woods was interviewed by the Guardian. Being the father of a legendary golfer, Earl had plenty of questions involving Tiger. When asked about the legendary golfer’s love life, he had a story to share.

“He had one girlfriend in school and one in college”, shared Tiger’s father. Earl then discussed how he never had a problem with his son’s school girlfriend, but it was the family that troubled him mentally. “I didn’t think the one at school) was a bad idea. What I thought was a bad idea was what her family had in mind”, said Earl.

According to the Sr. Woods, Tiger’s girlfriend’s family was aware of the amateur golfer’s bright future and would accumulate loads of money in the future. Early said, “They (girlfriend’s family) had determined that Tiger was going to make a lot of money. They were meaning to make the relationship a permanent relationship”. Nonetheless, thanks to the Army veteran’s instincts, he was smart enough to make out their true intentions.

“I could see this, but Tiger couldn’t”, he said. Worried about his talented amateur golfer son, Earl Woods gave an ultimatum to the future Billionaire.

Earl gave Tiger two options

After understanding, the greedy mindset of Tiger’s girlfriend’s family, a worried Earl gave his son two options. Either to forbid him to see her, or counsel him and then wait for him to grow and determine what was right for himself.

“I chose the latter”, revealed the late Earl Woods. Though the relationship may have ended between Tiger and his school girlfriend, at least her family made the right call about the golfer. Tiger Woods became the first golfer to join the Billion dollar club.
