The 2021 US Open presented DeChambeau with the opportunity to defend his first Major Championship. He came into the tournament as an overwhelming favorite, which even Spiranac had to give in.
“It makes me sick like I might throw up. It pains me to say this – my outright pick is going to be Bryson DeChambeau. Bryson DeChambeau is going to win the US Open at Torrey Pines because it favors bombers – and Bryson is a bomber,” she said on the eve of the 2021 US Open.
However, after a positive start, things began to spiral down rapidly for DeChambeau. After leading the competition at one stage on Sunday, he played his final nine holes in eight-over to fall at T26. Once firmly in the driver’s seat at 5-under par, DeChambeau eventually finished 3-over, capping a nightmarish final few holes at the Torrey Pines Golf Course.
Following the developments, Paige Spiranac revealed she felt sorry for DeChambeau. “He looked like he was about to cry on No. 18, and I know a lot of you guys are going to say, ‘Well, it’s Bryson, it’s karma, he deserves it,’ whatever it may be, and regardless of your opinion on Bryson DeChambeau, we have all been in that position,” she said.
“We’ve all been on the golf course where it feels good, and all of the sudden, it takes a turn for the worst,” she continued. “I never want anyone to feel that way or go through that because it’s horrible, it is truly horrible.”
Spiranac clears the air surrounding her enmity against DeChambeau
Talking on her podcast ‘Playing a Round With Paige Renee’, she clarified any ill-feeling against DeChambeau. “I know a lot of people think that I’m a Bryson hater, I am not a Bryson hater. I said some things about Bryson when he was acting up, being a little bit of a jerk, called him out on it, but since then, I haven’t had a problem with Bryson,” Spiranac said.

“He is fun to talk about, at times he is fun to hate on, he is an easy joke, and most of the time when I’m messing around with it, it’s a bit.”

That was the final straw between any more Spiranac and DeChambeau allegations in public. It looks like the two have set their differences aside, for now.
