Like all fathers, Woods’ dad also wished for his boy to be remarkably successful in his career. But due to the golf star’s hard-working schedule, he could hardly ever spend much time around his family after turning pro. However, there was a time when Woods made the first move to strengthen his relationship with his dad.

In an old interview from 2002, Earl Woods talked about the time when he sipped alcohol with his superstar son for the first time. According to the golfer’s father, Tiger Woods never had a drink before going to Stanford. And it was during Thanksgiving when the former world champion came home and asked Sr. Woods, “What are you drinking Pop?”.

“I said a Pepsi and he said, “Give me that.” He went and fixed me a drink in the kitchen – a Jack Daniels and ginger – and then he comes back in the room and says “Come on Pop, let’s have our first drink together,” the Green Beret recalled. He added how he walked down to the park with his son and sat down to enjoy the most precious time of his life.
