‘He’s Always the First’: After Sharing Years of Bromance, Rory McIlroy Gets Cheezy About Tiger Woods in The Latest Full Swing Series

The world of golf has seen the rise of many friendships. While competing against each other day in and day out, developing a bond may seem like a complex deal. Until recently, when the Irishman busted that thinking wide open during his feature in Netflix’s docuseries, “Full Swing.”

The series’ final episode, “Everything Has Led To This,” revolves entirely around Rory McIlroy. It explores his performances on the course and also digs deep into his private life. And part of that private life is his relationship with Woods! The episode and series end perfectly, shining light on the connection the two share. The golf legend and the PGA Tour’s top dog, A match made in heaven!

In the scene, the former World No. 1 glances at his phone and reveals that he received a congratulatory text from the 15-time major winner himself soon after his PGA Championship win. “He’s always the first. Always,” he smiled and stated with immense emotion. “Like, he’ll text you, like, before the last putt drops. Always the first. He’s unreal.” The scene perfectly depicts the bond the two share and how, even off camera, they are extremely close.

Woods and McIlroy’s off-course ventures

In the past too the 4-time major winner has sung high praises of the golf great. The 82-time PGA Tour winner has, after all, touched almost every golfer’s life, including McIlroy’s. But now the two admire each other. And it just doesn’t end there! The duo is even working together for the evolution of the sport, and are partners in the company TMWR Sports, for just that reason.

But it’s not just their business that brings them closer. They also live in close proximity to each other in Florida, and more often than not, they find themselves playing golf together. It seems like their friendship was inevitable, despite their rivalry on the course.
