He is dubbed ‘the best’ for a reason! Tiger Woods has raked in many an accolade over his career. Interestingly, some of them tend to stand out among others. What are they, you ask? Well, as is common knowledge, the 48-year-old brags a whopping 82 PGA Tour wins including 15 majors. But, will he be able to increase his tally yet again?

This query was posed by NUCLR GOLF on its social media handle a while back. However, what followed was nothing short of a surprising development as many took to the post to express their lack of faith in the pro bagging yet another major win!

NUCLR GOLF shared two questions on its X profile (previously known as Twitter) along with an old video from Skratch to initiate a “discussion” in the community. Firstly, the tweet went ahead to inquire what the golf world thought in terms of Mr.T “passing Sam Snead for most PGA Tour wins all time,” with a win “this season” amid his comeback. It would then push him past the number 82.

Continuing with the post, the news handle asked yet again as to whether the 1997 Masters Tournament champ would be able to “ever catch” Jack Nicklaus’s record of “major championship” wins. The ‘Golden Bear’ boasts a whopping tally of 18 major wins throughout his career.

If he is to break the two records, the golfer has to do so amid his 2024 schedule which would witness him starting off his season at the Genesis Invitational in February. However, he would follow it with an event per month including the PLAYERS in March, the Masters in April, and so on. Well, the question did bring out one thing, not many have faith in the golfer now following his accident and the hiatus.

The tweet did receive the reaction it planned to elicit as many took to the same to express their belief in the professional. The 48-year-old wouldn’t have even imagined such a response from the community.

Woods’s ‘Major’ question throws the internet into a frenzy

The reactions from the followers ranged from mixed ones including those mentioning how the golfer has what it takes to beat one record while being unable to break the other to those painting him as being unable to do both. Anyway, let us take a quick look at some of them.

A fan did go ahead and bluntly convey his thoughts on the question. They went ahead to divulge how the golfer has the potential to win one more event on the PGA Tour. But, the majors? That’s a big ‘No’!

Meanwhile, another enthusiast strongly indicated how neither of the two, major or otherwise, would be happening any time soon or even in the future for that matter. Well, talk about being sure of something!

Here’s one for the PGAT event! This time, a fan expressed his strong belief as to how the athlete would be able to break the number 82, set by Snead. However, beating Nicklaus is an entirely different thing, they feel!

Another fan came forward to convey his answer along the same lines but, with a twist. They went ahead to mention how while Woods might be unable to do so on the men’s circuit, the PGA Tour Champions is a different story!

Here comes another one against the 48-year-old. This time, the golf enthusiast did not express faith in the golfer’s ability at all as he dubbed him a part of history all the while mentioning how no one cares about him anymore!

Just a few conveyed their belief in the talents of the professional, albeit to a small extent. Although this fan did indicate how the 82x PGA Tour champ can win a major, he was skeptical of him beating the likes of ‘The Golden Bear’.
