LIV Adelaide’s 48-player individual competition ended with American golfer Talor Gooch winning his first-ever LIV event. Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson-led 4Aces GC came out at the top in the team event. Speaking to the press ahead of the final round, the 32-year-old golfer shared that he had no idea about the leaderboard for the team competition. “I don’t even know what the team is. I didn’t even see a leaderboard, so I have no idea. It doesn’t scroll that far. It pops up for a second and then it’s gone,” Koepka had shared.

The 12-team concept is one of the biggest selling points of the Saudi-backed breakaway league, with players being drafted by team captains into 4-man squads. The 4Aces GC, comprising captain Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Peter Uihlein, and Pat Perez, won $3,000,000 first prize in the team event. They finished one shot ahead of Bubba Watson-led Range Goats GC, which won $1,500,000.

Talor Gooch claims victory in LIV Adelaide

Talor Gooch hit back-to-back 62s to maintain a massive 10-stroke lead heading into the final round at the Grange Golf Club in Adelaide. But, the 31-year-old nearly blew his chances at winning his first-ever LIV event and the individual payout, with bogeys at seven and eight, followed by a double-bogey on 10. His mistakes during the final round reduced his lead to just two over India’s Anirban Lahiri.

However, Gooch managed to bounce back and birdie the 11th and 13th, walking away with an incredible $4,000,000 in earnings. Meanwhile, Lahiri came second, taking home his $2,125,000 payout. Australia’s Cam Smith and former Masters winner Patrick Reed were among the four golfers who tied for third place. Meanwhile, Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson, who tied at T2 at the Masters earlier this month, finished seven shots off the pace.
