Saudi International Golf Event brought many controversies into the golf world. Although many golfers will be attending the event, not many were willing to state their reason to do so. This time, it was Shane Lowry who broke the silence.

Shane Lowry is an Irish Golfer who turned pro in 2009. The 34-year-old achieved his greatest career moment when he won the 2019 Open Championship at the Royal Portrush Golf Club. Shane was also a part of Team Europe for the 2021 Ryder Cup.
Lowry was also the winner of the 2015 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational; He defeated by two strokes Bubba Watson in the final round.

Shane is one of the pro golfers who opted to attend Saudi International amidst the controversies. He is also one of the few who stated his reasons for participating in the event.

“I’m not a politician. I’m a professional golfer,” added Lowry. He explained that he’d simply be doing his job by going out there and competing. Just like anyone else, he wants to win

Lowry further mentioned: “But I’m happy to go there. I’m happy to earn my living going there and going and playing good golf and hopefully win a tournament.”
