

The PGA Tour has been undergoing massive developments in recent months. Though most of the changes have been within the Tour, its latest alteration involves some of its neighbors which can change the landscape of the future of American golf. And like any other news in the sport, the golf world didn’t shy away from sharing their thoughts about it.
Since the initiation of LIV Golf, there have been several modifications in the way of working the PGA Tour. Whether it’s elevated events or the soon-to-be-launched TGL league, the American Tour has taken many measures to outshine the Saudi-funded Tour. Nonetheless, with its latest alteration, the Tour is looking out not only for the present moment but even for the future.

PGA Tour announces a new Tour
While the PGA Tour represents golfers from the United States, it also co-sanctions Tours of other countries such as PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour Latinoamerica which mostly comprises of Latino golfers. However, both Tours will soon be discontinued individually.

Instead, the Canadian and Latin American Tour will merge into the PGA Tour Americas starting in the February of 2024. The newly announced Tour will consist of 16 events that will be played across Latin America, Canada, and the United States. The top 10 finishers on the season-long points list will earn membership to PGA Tour’s development Tour, Korn Ferry Tour for the following season.
The schedule for the PGA Tour Americas will be released later this year in September. Finalized details regarding eligibility – including the priority ranking – as well as purses and points distribution, will be announced closer to the 2024 PGA TOUR Americas season beginning in February of next year.
The Canadian Tour began its operations in 1971. After more than four decades, the United States-based PGA Tour took over their neighboring Tour and renamed it as PGA Tour Canada in 2012. It was the same year when PGA Tour Latinoamerica was launched. Nonetheless, starting next year, players from both Tours will compete with each other for the chance to compete in Korn Ferry Tour.
