‘It’d Be Unfair’: In Response to a Bizarre Comparison by Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk Takes Down the Legend With His Cheeky Words

The 15-time major championship winner Tiger Woods might not be on the golf course yet, but he is in the news. While fans expect a victorious return of the golfer at Masters 2023, his old statement has become the town’s new talk. 

Refresh your memory and walk down memory lane when the former number one golfer compared Jim Furyk with Collin Morikawa. The athletic personality of both golfers was in question. Woods appreciated Morikawa over Furyk in 2021, which made many fans furious. They believed it was a bizarre comparison. However, now we know whether it was insulting to the 2010 FedEx Cup winner.

However, while making the statement, the GOAT golfer clarified that he meant no disrespect. He said, “Don’t take that the wrong way, Jim. I’m sorry if you’re watching. [Morikawa’s] longer, but he thinks methodically around the golf course like [Furyk].” 

Well, did he take it the wrong way?

Jim Furyk finally gave answers to Tiger Woods

Kyle Porter, Golf Writer at CBS sports, posted a short video of his interaction with the PGA Tour champion Furyk. In the video, he finally asked the golfer about his views on Woods’ statement. Furyk questioned the athleticism of the golfer and said, “have you ever seen other than lifting weights and run? Have you ever seen Tiger do anything athletic?” He further added, “Seen him play basketball, football, baseball. Did he ever play?” Furyk pointed out that the pro was not the right person to make the comparison, as he did not have any athletic approach.

However, Woods’ athleticism came into question because Porter posed a question. He asked, “Tiger describing Colin Morikawa as an athletic Jim Furyk. Was that more of an insult to you or to Morikawa?” However, when it came to Woods, the one-time major championship winner expressed his desires. He said, “I would have loved to have played him one-on-one in basketball. I mean, it’d be unfair now because he probably can’t move as well, but back in the day, I would have loved.” However, according to the hosts, throwing the first pitch would be a better exposure for Woods.

Furyk appreciated Morikawa and pointed out the positives of the comparison. The 2003 US Open winner thinks the world of the 25-year-old golfer. He believes Morikawa is great not only as a person but also as a player and ball striker. His accomplishments at such a young age are what Furyk would accept as a compliment.
