Jon Rahm Aiming to Match a Staggering Tiger Woods Record at Upcoming European Tour Event
This week, Jon Rahm is back at the Acciona Open de Espana (Spanish Open) this season. The European Tour event will have Rahm play in front of his home crowd who will welcome the 2021 US Open winner with open arms. Rahm, however, is on the verge of making history. If he wins, he will have achieved a feat only Tiger Woods has achieved since World War II.
Woods, considered the greatest of all time, has accumulated various wins and records over the course of his two-decade career. Meanwhile, Rahm, 26, has been a professional since 2016, and playing both the European Tour and PGA Tour, the World No. 1 has impressed everyone with his game.

Jon Rahm could achieve a unique feat like Tiger Woods
In 2018 and 2019, Rahm won the Spanish Open. The event was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, returning this year to the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. Rahm will now have an opportunity to secure a hat-trick by winning the tournament three consecutive times.

As per reports, Tiger Woods is the only other player under the age of 27 to win a PGA Tour or European Tour event three consecutive times since World War II. If Rahm wins, he will be the second player to have done so.
Additionally, Woods has actually done this twice, once at the Memorial and once at WGC-Bridgestone. Interestingly, he won three consecutive times at the same event two more times, but after turning 27.
On the European Tour, Ian Woosnam, Nick Falso, Colin Montgomerie and Sergio Garcia have won the same tournament three times straight since 1990. However, there is no age category for this. While on the PGA Tour, Steve Stricker and Stuart Appleby are the only players apart from Woods to do so.
