Nonetheless, it all came crashing down for the 2021 US Open winner after a poor display of golf to his standards. Let’s take a look at what he thinks of his performance.

Jon Rahm is angry with himself

Just hours after the final round on Sunday, the Spaniard had to answer questions from the media. When asked if it was the pace of play that affected his poor score, Rahm rejected the ideology. “No, I wouldn’t say so”, he replied. He added how he even had better swings than the previous days.

However, Jon Rahm then points out his bad day of golf by saying, “I got a lot of bad breaks today. Anytime I was in the rough, I was just dead as could be.” He further disclosed his mistake by saying, “Instead of having a wedge as my third shot, I had a 7-iron. I made a lot of bad breaks. I can guarantee you one thing: if you’re in the fairway, you don’t get bad breaks. Just have to play better.”

During the final round, Rahm missed the green with his second shot from the fairway, making a bogey of 1. After driving into a fairway bunker on the left off the tee and then veering further left after his second ball bounced off a cart path, he made a double-bogey five. Rahm made a birdie on hole no. 6, but a bogey on hole no. 7 and 10, gave Max Homa the Farmers Insurance Open victory.

In the end, the Spaniard revealed to give it his all but yet fell short. “I knew it would be a tough day”, claimed Rahm. Despite scoring a total of -8, his 3-over-par in the final round gave him the tied to the 7th position. Nonetheless, deeming to his recent form, it won’t be long before the 28-year-old is back to his winning ways.
