Ian Poulter reflects on his incredible takeaways from LIV Adelaide

As LIV Adelaide carried on, party tunes by Fergie, Beastie Boys, and Justin Beiber could be heard all around the course. This starkly contrasts with the golf events under PGA Tour, wherein tournament workers and volunteers often use “Quiet Please” signs to hush the spectators.

From loud music courtesy of a DJ at the venue to players basking in fans’ adulation, LIV defector Ian Poulter’s latest Instagram post has now offered a glimpse into the successful event.

In his caption, the 47-year-old golfer thanked the Australians for the great memories. “Australia and Adelaide you were class,” wrote the golfer, sharing his anticipation for next year’s event. The English golfer had a T26 finish at the Grange, tying with Bryson Dechambeau, Mito Pereira, and Brendan Steele.

Earlier, the likes of Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, and Bubba Watson also expressed their genuine amazement at the huge crowds. On Sunday, Chase Koepka’s hole-in-one shot received an overwhelming response, pleasantly surprising the golfer.

Ian Poulter’s praises for LIV fails to pacify fans

In the past, the Englishman has spoken about the flak he received for joining LIV. Appearing in Netflix’s Full Swing documentary, the golfer talked about the vile abuse he was subjected to for his decision. While many hoped that the drama will ebb away with time, it seems like many golf fans still harbor conflicting feelings about the Saudi-backed league and its players.

LIV Adelaide’s loud and excited spectators failed to thrill some fans, with one commenting, “If class means screaming, shouting and throwing beer everywhere then yeah they were awesome.” One fan even went as far as referring to the tournament as “fake golf.” “What bollox, a bunch of has been’s,” read another comment.

Honestly, weirdest attempt to artificially create history and form a legacy LIV doesn’t have any right to,” wrote another. One fan thinks that LIV’s next event in Singapore will be a dud, commenting, “Let’s see if Singapore has the same feel..retirement village for rich golfers finishing their careers..boring now.”

Other fans of the LIV players also came to their defense, with one saying, “Love what you guys are doing at LIV. Was a blast seeing you all in our hometown Orlando!” Meanwhile, one Aussie fan reciprocated Poulter’s sentiments, saying, “Great to have you here Poults, always a class act. Thank you 👍.
