Jon Rahm has been a topic of discussion quite often in recent weeks in the golfing community. After his abrupt disappearance from the TGL, questions about his future career plans came up, raising a buzz about his potential move to LIV Golf. But, the buzz has apparently gotten louder now! 

The speculations got stronger in the past few days with claims circulating on the internet that his entry to LIV is a “done deal”. With no official update from any of the concerned authorities, the 2023 Masters $600 million move still remains a mere speculation. However, Rahm’s fellow Spaniard, Sergio Garcia just gave a huge hint about the probable speculations being true. 

Sergio Garcia spices up Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf situation

The 2017 Masters winner recently took part in a conversation with former golfers Jerry Foltz and Su-Ann Heng. The trio discussed LIV Golf in detail, in the first episode of the podcast ‘Fairway to Heaven’ hosted by Foltz and Heng. Getting intrigued by the ongoing Rahm-LIV situation, the hosts asked the LIV golfer to let them in on some inside information, and luckily, Garcia did. 

Speaking of his team Fireballs, the former PGAT pro mentioned about Carlos Oritz’s exit from the team. It was after Orittz’s exit discussion that the Spaniard dropped the update about his replacement for Oritz. “We filled in his position with, someone young, very, very talented, and very exciting.” Not revealing the name of the new addition, Garcia further said “And I’m sure that, that is going to come out soon. For everyone to know, if not everyone knows already.”

The former Fireballs GC member passed the deal to extend his contract with the team and chose to become a free agent for this off-season window. Garcia said it was a bit of a shame and explained how the team had a good chat with Oritz and understood where he wanted to go further.

Considering the fact that there is a buzz about Jon Rahm moving to LIV and possibly joining the Fireballs, this is an exciting update. Garcia’s subtle underlining of how many might already know the name, surely spices up the situation. Since, Rahm is three years younger than the 32-year-old Carlos Oritz, the “young” part also checks out.

Even before this soft hint dropped, there have been discussions about Rahm moving to Garcia’s team. Here is a recap of that conversation. 

LIV Golfer rejects the possibility of Jon Rahm playing for the Fireballs

Fellow LIV golfer Richard Bland felt that Garcia’s team probably wouldn’t interest a player like Rahm. Despite the Spanish camaraderie that the duo share, Bland believed that Rahm wouldn’t enter a team where he would be number two. He claimed that the 29-year-old would want his own team.

On the other hand, Rahm’s move to LIV Golf in itself is still not an official update. The claim that he has signed a $600 million deal is yet to be confirmed by the LIV side, and by the golfer himself. Although Rahm opted out of the Hero World Challenge and left the TGL before its nearing launch, it sure does correlate with the LIV claim.

Let’s wait for an announcement from the concerned entities, which, as Sergio Garcia said, would drop soon.
