Ryder Cup is the highest pursuit of national glory for any American or European golfer. It is indeed the toughest test that a golfer has to go through once in two years and compete in formidable situations. The 44th edition of the prestigious golf tournament is set to begin in less than a month in Rome, Italy, and the preparations for the same have begun.

The American team was finalized a couple of days ago, and with Zach Johnson’s captain’s picks, quite a few hearts were broken. One such golfer who could not excel in his dream of making the team was LIV star Talor Gooch. The golfer has now opened up about how he feels about not making the spot in the team.

There was quite a lot of speculation about Johnson picking up a LIV player for the team amid all the feud, but he made sure to make a decision that would be best for Team USA and curated a team that would help beat the European rivals in Rome. One LIV golfer, Brooks Koepka, was able to make it to the team after immense support from fans. But on the other hand, quite a few players such as Gooch and Bryson DeChambeau couldn’t.

But not getting selected for the team did not break Gooch’s heart, as he was aware of how tough the decision was for the captain. The LIV star was interacting with his fans on Instagram when a question about the young golfer deserving a spot in the team popped up.

The 31-year-old golfer humbly answered, “I think more than 12 deserved it so Zach had a tough job but did a good job. We got a dang good squad that I’ll be cheering for to get the W.”

While the golfer didn’t make his opinions crystal clear, he did make it clear that he would cheer for his fellow American golfers whilst they compete for the highly coveted title.

Gooch is not the only golfer who had his heart broken by not making it to the Ryder Cup squad. There were a few other names as well who wanted to be on the team but could not, but are now planning to support their fellow American golfers from afar.

‘The Scientist’ made it very clear after his historic Greenbrier win that he wanted to be one of the players competing in the red since he has been performing exceptionally well. But just in case he wasn’t able to make it to the team for any reason, DeChambeau revealed that he would sit back and cheer for the American squad from a distance.

Keegan Bradley shared memorabilia from his more than a decade-old appearance at the Ryder Cup and expressed his disheartening emotions after not getting selected for the cup. But in his heartfelt confession, he made sure to say that he would be pulling and cheering for America’s clan from afar.
