With a series of great performances, Jon Rahm is already considered one of the greatest Spanish golfers of all time. Though he may need one more Green Jacket to match Seve Ballesteros, Rahm is already closing in to match his fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia’s legacy. Following his 2023 Masters win, Jon has received another positive update that can elevate his reputation around fellow golfers.

Jon Rahm’s claimed his first Green Jacket at Augusta National earlier this month. It was the Spaniard’s first victory since the 2021 US Open. Though he may enjoy the triumph for the next few weeks, Rahm has already begun preparations for hosting the Champions dinner next year.

The iconic feast is hosted by the previous year’s Masters winner at the Augusta National on the Tuesday of the Masters Weekend. It is among the many legendary traditions of the first Major of the season. And relation to that special night, Rahmbo was provided a positive update by the Chairman.

No spending limit for Jon Rahm at the Champions Dinner

Rahm is enjoying wearing the Green Jacket outside the Augusta National Golf Club as the Masters winner gets to take to legendary jacket home until the next edition of the Major. He was seen sporting the jacket during his recent visit to the Golf’s Subpar Podcast.

During his visit, the hosts, Colt Knost and Drew Stolz quizzed the golfer with several questions. The duo then asked Jon Rahm if he has to pay for the Champions Dinner from his own pocket. “That’s another thing I learned”, claimed the Spaniard.

Rahm further added that he has already been in conversation about the feast with Augusta National Golf Club Chairman, Fred Ridley. He said, “I went to Chairman Ridley, I was like, ‘What’s the budget for this?’ Whatever you want to spend! Great”. Golfers such as Bernhard Langer, who’s hosted the Champions Dinner twice, once claimed that the golfer requires a ‘hefty amount’ to host his fellow Master’s winners.

Nonetheless, Rahm won’t be having much trouble financially, as he’s already won $13,623,540 in prize money in the 2022-23 season before the month of May. He looks to host a Spanish-themed dinner next year. But with his expected menu, can he outshine his fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia’s Champions Dinner in 2019?

Jon Rahm’s expected menu VS Sergio Garcia’s Champions Dinner menu

Garcia hosted the iconic Masters tradition back in 2018, after winning his only Major a year before. During the Champions Dinner, the Spaniard served his fellow golfers with the ‘International Salad’ as a starter, which comprised all the ingredients representing the countries of previous Masters Champions.

On the main course, Garcia served Arroz Caldosa de Bogavante, which is a traditional Spanish lobster rice. Named after Sergio’s wife, Angela Garcia’s Tres Leches cake was served at the end to conclude the dinner. Nonetheless, Jon Rahm is hoping to emulate the 2017 Masters winner by bringing back Spanish cuisine to Augusta National.

Apart from his willingness to pay immeasurably for the dinner at the Golf’s Subpar Podcast, Rahm also disclosed some of the dishes he has decided on for next year’s Champions Dinner. He said, “Jamón (Spanish dish) will be there for sure. Spanish ham. Jamón ibérico [a type of cured leg of pork], as an appetizer. I believe I know the dessert. Possibly the wine, if I get a choice on what wine is drank”.

Though many would compare both Spaniards, at the end of the day it is always a proud moment to bring Spanish cuisine to the Champions Dinner. Perhaps, Rahm can consult with Garcia in case he needs some assistance to have a perfect feast.
