While the fans are eagerly waiting for the commencement of the Masters, some fans are also excited about the drama which will unfold at the Champions Dinner. The decades-long tradition will see its most awkward dinner when LIV Golf detectors will sit together with their former colleagues from the PGA Tour. Ahead of the big night, the two-time Masters winner shared his thoughts about what the encounter among the players will mean to the sport.

The excitement for the Masters is getting unbearable for many. The first Major of the season will see top golfers in the world battle it out for the Green Jacket. Nonetheless, on Tuesday night ahead of the Major weekend, all champions from previous editions will sit together for a meal hosted by last year’s winner.

This year’s highly anticipated Champions Dinner will be hosted by world number one and former champion, Scottie Scheffler. Apart from the Texas-themed dinner, the night will also see the first encounter of LIV Golf stars with the PGA Tour players after several months. While many are concerned about the awkward interaction, Ben Crenshaw had varied thoughts from the rest.

Is ‘Old Fashioned’ Crenshaw ready to meet LIV Golf defectors?

Dubbed ‘Gentle Ben’, Crenshaw will receive an invitation to Augusta National for a lifetime, thanks to his two Green Jacket wins in 1984 and 1995. Nonetheless, ahead of the Champions Dinner next week, the Hall of Famer talked to Golf Channel about the highly anticipated Major.

It’s going to be difficult”, said Ben Crenshaw about the encounter of the six LIV Golf defectors who will be at the feast along with the PGA Tour players. However, he then said, “Everybody fought really hard to get into this room, we should all be happy that we’re together”.

The two-time Masters winner then revealed that he was not a fan of the Saudi-funded Tour since he is ‘very old-fashioned’. Crenshaw also indirectly labeled the lucrative Tour as ‘disruptive’. Nonetheless, after sharing his honest thoughts about LIV Golf, he then adds to have no issue with the defectors. “Regardless of what choice they made, are still going to be my friends. I applaud that”, Crenshaw said.

The 71-year-old ended by saying, “And I think that’s the way we should keep going”. While many are worried about the awkward conversation among the golfers of both Tours, words from legends like Ben Crenshaw can be used as an inspiration. Though the players play for different Tours, they do share the same passion and urge to win.
