Two of LIV Golf’s biggest stars, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson happen to be good friends. The duo has been immensely successful in their respective careers so far, with six major championship victories between them. However, their brotherhood was allegedly down the barrel once following a tense scuffle before their Ryder Cup duties, which Koepka addressed recently as well.

What caused friction between Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson?

The ugly incident was reported during the 2018 Ryder Cup, where some of the best golfers were selected to represent their country. Among them were compatriots Koepka and Johnson, with the former arriving having won two major championships in the calendar year.

However, Team USA failed to pose a challenge as they went down to their European counterparts in a landslide loss. It attracted the ire of fans and media back home, with many contemplating reasons for such a heavy defeat.

With rumors swirling, several media houses reported that a scuffle had broken in the United States camp between Koepka and Johnson. Plenty of unproven reasons were dished out at that time, including a conflict related to the latter’s then-fiancee, Paulina Gretzky.

The 32-year-old also called Johnson “one of my best friends” to eliminate any thought of animosity surrounding the issue. The situation calmed down gradually, with the duo eventually helping their country win the next edition of the Ryder Cup.

What did Brooks Koepka say about the controversy on Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’?

Recently released for golf fans on Netflix, the ‘Full Swing’ is a series of eight episodes showcasing the journey of some of the best golfers in the world across the last season. Among them, there was an episode for Koepka, who, like Johnson, had switched alliances to the LIV Golf Series.

His appearance caught the buzz among fans. Days after the episodes were released, the four-time major championship winner took to Instagram to answer his fans’ questions, including the story behind Johnson at the Ryder Cup.

“Yeah, this one makes me laugh. We were just horsing around, messing around… We were just having fun,” Koepka claimed. So putting an end to the saga, no hard feelings between the duo? “So no issue, and he’d say the same thing,” he concluded.
