Is Justin Timberlake A Profitable Partner For Tiger Woods’ Billion Dollar Empire?

Tiger Woods is probably one of the greatest players that golf has witnessed so far. Ever since his young days, Woods has done nothing but stun everyone with his fearless game and his stellar skills. The golfer has so many accolades and records to his name that it becomes difficult to remember them all. Apart from being one of the most renowned golfers, Woods is also a businessman who has many business ventures that are operating successfully, and a few will be rolling out soon.

To be precise, two of the most-awaited Tiger Woods’ ventures, T-Squared and TGL, are going to be on the market soon, and the excitement amongst fans for the distinctive concepts is off the charts. For TGL, Woods has partnered up with his fellow PGA Tour pro, Rory McIlroy, and for his sports-entertainment bar T-squared, the GOAT has partnered up with entertainment star Justin Timberlake. Though the sports partnership started well with their New York City venture, it soon faced some roadblocks with their St. Andrews bar, raising the question: Is Justin Timberlake a profitable partner for the golf Hall of Famer, Tiger Woods?

Is Justin Timberlake’s and Tiger Woods’ partnership going to be fruitful?

A while ago, Woods and Timberlake took the sports and entertainment world by storm when they announced that they would be combining the two parallel segments together and bringing forth a new bar in New York. The news was very well received by the fans and everyone in the fraternity. The partners opened a full-fledged dining and entertainment experience for the people in Manhattan. Though the golfing legend has been absent from the course since late April, ever since he withdrew from the 2023 Masters, even the tiniest update from him leaves the fans in an absolute frenzy.

Soon after the NYC news, the business partners announced that they wished to expand their business to Europe, specifically Scotland. The project was to transform the 1930s New Picture House into a premium sports and entertainment gastropub. But the Scotland-based project soon hit a roadblock when a campaign to protect the town’s legacy and history commenced. The petition was initiated by Ash Johann Curry-Machado, a student at the University of St Andrews and president of the St Andrews Film Society.

The aim of the petition was to protect the only cinema that St. Andrew has and not strip away a vital part of the town’s rich history. Within a week of the petition’s release, it had over 9,000 signatures. As per the petition, the project would reduce the Regal New Picture House to a single screen and would be overshadowed by golf simulators and alcohol.

Neil Dobson, a St Andrews Community Council member, said in his interview with Courier, “This town has been very good to Tiger Woods, and this is not the way to repay residents; St Andrews is unique, and that building is iconic. An American bar is completely out of keeping. It will be full of American golfers, with nothing left in the town for children at all.”

On the other hand, David Morris, Managing Director of the New Picture House, spoke to Herald Scotland and said, “The planned T-Squared social investment will enable the local community, students, and visitors, the opportunity to experience a broader range of cinema, dining, and entertainment at the popular venue.” He also commented on the economic benefits the investment will provide in the future in the form of employment: “We are excited to welcome Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake to St Andrews.”

Though the venue is supposed to open in 2024, it is subjective to planning approval. But this hiccup in Timberlake’s and Woods’ business journey might be hinting towards an unfruitful and unprofitable partnership between the two. If the issue persists and the authorities fold into the petition’s pressure, the duo will have to say goodbye to their first choice of venue for their European venture.

Not only T-Squared Social, but the 82X PGAT winner has one more business venture, TGL, to look forward to, and it might just be more profitable for him!

Woods’ partnership with Rory McIlroy may be more profitable 

TGL, an innovative golf league, will be going on floors in January 2024, and it is already the talk of the town in the golf fraternity. Woods partnered up with Rory McIlroy to introduce a technology-based golf league that would be played between six teams 4 players each. Five out of the six teams have been purchased by the likes of Serena Williams, Stephen Curry, Arthur Blank, Steve Cohen, John Henry, and Tom Werner.

Other than the prominent team owners, the 15X major champion’s TGL partner, Rory McIlroy, is also a huge name in golf, and partnering with him will also be a profitable move for the league and its revenue. TGL has not faced any hiccups so far in terms of sponsors such as SoFi Technology and ESPN, owners, or anything else.

If the T-Squared Social venture with Justin Timberlake does not pan out well for some reason, Tiger Woods’ TGL will surely reach zenith with such big names in the business with him. The 5X Masters champion’s TGL is indeed a more profitable prospect as compared to his partnership with Timberlake.
