‘A Close Relationship With the Lord’: Bryson DeChambeau Reveals His Biggest Learning After Suffering an Injury Setback

The past few months presented nothing but struggles for the world No. 24 golfer Bryson DeChambeau. From facing multiple injuries to missing most of the tournaments this year, the player had experienced the worst of a golfer hopes not to. 

Yet, the 28-year-old is preparing to make a comeback as if nothing has happened to him. And the golfer knows how he got to keep himself positive throughout all the issues he faced. 

“There’s more to life than golf,” DeChambeau explained what helped him get over the thought that his career was over. The golfer revealed what changed in the last 7 months of his life that changed his perspective at the press meet before the Memorial Tournament.

“It’s been definitely eye-opening for me to have a close relationship with the Lord,” he added.  “Just, more importantly, being happy with myself, too, and more importantly, getting closer to him.”

Furthermore, the golfer explained the new change in his perspective changed his life for good. “I’m going to continue to fight, continue to be my absolute best out here on the golf course,” DeChambeau added. “…and hopefully inspire some kids along the way and do my due diligence like he wants me to.” 

Notably, the 2020 U. S. Open champion is making a comeback after a break since his wrist surgery. The same injury had made him withdraw from competitions like the Saudi International.

Significantly, it prevented him from attending the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The 28-year-old was the defending champion after winning the event in 2021 with a one-shot lead.  

DeChambeau is to make a comeback at the Memorial Tournament that begins on June 2nd at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.

DeChamebeau has experience in winning at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. He had won the 2018 Memorial Tournament in a playoff against Byeong Hun An and Kyle Stanley.

With the victory, he became the fourth-youngest to win the event after Tiger Woods in 1999 and 2000 and Hideki Matsuyama in 2014. The following year, DeChambeau did play well and even scored a 66 in the final round. However, he could only secure a T22 position then.
