Jordan Spieth was recently bestowed with two big responsibilities. One, he entered the coveted roster of the 2023 US Ryder Cup Team. Second, he welcomed his baby girl on September 12. LIV golfer Brooks Koepka too became a parent last month.

While both the roles have been demanding equal attention from Spieth, it is hard to overlook the first time Spieth put on the shoes of a dad, two years ago. Well! When one recollects that experience of the 30-year-old professional, it is inevitable not to draw the connection to Golf Mommy Paige Spiranac.

Last year, in a podcast episode on her channel,‘ Playing a Round with Paige Renee’, the model had raised a question to her guest of that day, the golf analyst Amanda Rose. The posed question was related to Jordan Spieth. Spiranac asked, “Did you see that picture of Jordan Spieth holding his child, though? On Instagram?”

Soon after, the golf diva had herself answered how it seemed “Like he has never held a baby before”. The social media post in question was shared by the golfer, displaying a family picture of his wife, his son, and himself. While it’s been more than a year since Spiranac made that comment, and Spieth has gained a new added role, it’s difficult for the audience to not draw comparisons.

Amidst the entry of Sophia in his life, there is an obvious recollection of when the Ryder Cup team member first became a father.

Jordan Spieth and his first taste of fatherhood

Jordan Spieth first stepped into the role of a father in 2021 when he and his wife Annie Spieth welcomed their first son, Sammy. While the news surely was an exciting one, the golfer clearly took some time to adjust to his new responsibilities. Shedding light on the same, the golf professional back then admitted how mostly it is Annie who shoulders maximum responsibility.

He said, “Annie keeps the kid alive essentially, so, um… I, uh, I help when I can.” This was the athlete’s way of admitting how given the age of his son back then [3 months old], there wasn’t much he could do when it came to providing. The baby, per Jordan Spieth, spent most of his time sleeping.

As the initial phase of fatherhood saw the inexperienced side of the golfer, eventually Spieth adjusted to his new responsibilities. The proof of the same was provided by the golf professional himself. Chuckling at his abilities, he commented, “I believe in my ability as a diaper changer.” The Dallas native hilariously added that he preferred speed over quality.

Overall, it isn’t difficult to see the adaptation Jordan Spieth has embraced. Even though Spiranac’s comment had a touch of hilarity, it indirectly traces the progress Spieth has shown and the roles he has adjusted to.
