Yet another PGA Tour player is undergoing surgery! Golf fans have seen many players get injured and miss action in the traditional league. The prime example will be Tiger Woods, who has missed quite a lot of events due to his surgery in 2023. Joining him on the list of players missing due to injury is Bernhard Langer.

The 66-year-old player sent out a statement revealing he was injured in a training session. “Yesterday, during training exercises in Boca Raton, I tore my Achilles tendon. I will have surgery today to repair the injury, which will cause me to miss time playing competitive golf as I recover,” he said.

However, the PGA Tour pro is confident he will overcome this obstacle soon with the help of his family. His loyal fans will also be looking forward to his speedy recovery. However, there is yet to be an announcement when the 66-year-old will return to the greens.

The timing of this injury could not have been worse. While the 66-year-old confirmed he is going into surgery today, the real test will start after that. Recovering from surgery for a torn Achilles tendon can take a few months, even a year at worst.
This would mean Langer can miss out on playing at the 2024 Masters, which unfortunately will be his last. The 66-year-old made a statement via the PGA Tour’s Instagram handle that the upcoming Masters would mark his retirement.

He shared, “I’ll be hitting 3 irons and two hybrids when guys are hitting nine irons into the green. It’s tough to compete against.” While fans were hoping for a heartwarming adieu from the golf legend at the Masters, this injury has saddened many.
