While the second season of the LIV Golf Series will commence in February, Mickelson is prepared to get some match practice at the Saudi International. The celebrated golfer sat down for an interview ahead of the event at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, outlining his fresh mindset and willingness to conquer more titles.

“Rather than look back, I feel like I have a unique opportunity now to do something that has probably never been done at this stage in a player’s career,” Mickelson said. He also praised legendary golfer Sam Snead and his achievements during his 50s.

In recent years, Mickelson has turned into a fitness freak. Once ridiculed for his weight, ‘Lefty’ has managed to steer clear of unhealthy meals and is focused on getting the best out of his body. “But at 52, my body feels great. Had a great offseason. I feel I’m in really good shape,” he said. “I’ve never had injuries. I’ve made changes.”

In the same segment, Mickelson highlighted his vision for major championships and how he was feeling confident about winning more. “I’m in every major for the next three years and I think I have a chance to win one or two more and create these accomplishments that haven’t been done at this stage,” he said.

“I feel like I can duplicate Kiawah.” he further added, which stood as a warning that must have sent a chill down the spine of adversaries.

But why is Kiawah so special? The 2021 PGA Championship, held at Kiawah Island, was host to witness an extraordinary performance from Mickelson. At a month shy of 51, the veteran golfer became the oldest golfer to win one of golf’s major championships. It was his first major championship victory in eight years, which propelled him to six titles in golf’s most prestigious competitions.
