Mel Reid on wife Carly and their growing family

Outside of golf, Mel has great responsibilities on her shoulders. Last week on 3rd May, Mel Ried and her wife Carly Reid, jointly announced on Instagram that Carly was expecting the couple’s first child with adorable pictures of tiny shoes and sonograms.

After that life has taken a big turn for her. She now has to juggle two equally important things in her life. At the conference, Mel was asked if the kind of excitement off the golf course is helping her play free. To this Mel answered, “Yeah, I’ve got a little bit more to think about now”. But Mel is also excited as Carly has started showing her baby bump now. “I guess I’m playing for something bigger than myself, like I’m playing for obviously Carly and we’ve got our own — hopefully going to have our own family now.”

Kid and family give Mel the drive to improve at her game

After she decided to quit the game last September she took some time off and got a fresh perspective on things in life. Having a child on the way has been a great motivational factor for Ried who wants to perform even better now and wants to be a proud golfer for her child and wife. “I want to win tournaments, and I want my kid and my wife to be running out. Like that’s something that I would love a moment to have. It’s definitely given me a lot more drive, and got my hunger back for the game for sure.
