Jon Rahm’s dramatic Masters win might have been an individual victory for the player, but it was also seen as a victory for the entire PGA Tour fraternity against LIV Golf. And ever since Rahm’s win, there has been silence in the controversy compared to how things were before.

However, there is one thing that has united several golfers despite the huge LIV Golf vs PGA Tour divide. And it has everything to do with standing up against the new updated OWGR system. Although LIV golfers don’t have access to the world ranking points yet, they are still putting forward their opinions about the matter. In fact, a Saudi rebel recently made staggering comments about the OWGR system, and they’re definitely worth knowing for golf fans!

LIV Golf rebel fires shots at the OWGR system

When LIV Golf was poaching the best players from the PGA Tour, it didn’t want to stay limited to the American side of the league. Rather, Greg Norman and his officials also brought in players from the PGA Tour of Australasia! And one of these Saudi rebels, who has already earned more than $1 million in the 2022 LIV Golf season, is Jed Morgan.

The Australian professional golfer achieved massive fame with his 2022 Fortinet Australian PGA Championship victory. But ever since he joined the Saudi circuit, the golfer has been away from the headlines. Nonetheless, he has made his way to the news again. Not for his performance, but for his strong statements about the OWGR system.

In a recent interview with news.au.com, the Aussie gave his much-valued opinion about how wrong it was for the OWGR to not award ranking points to LIV Golf players. He also added that if it was not changed in the future, then the system is probably ‘broken’! “If they don’t change that in the future, and LIV does everything right (to be awarded points) the world ranking system’s broken,” Morgan said. “It’s actually already broken. It’s already pretty scr**ed up.”

Why did Jed Morgan join LIV Golf?

Being on the breakaway circuit has been no less than a retirement plan for many professionals. However, for Morgan, it was more of an “opportunity”. “My opinion is simple – I just want to take every opportunity I can to compete at this stage in my career and I’m grateful for the opportunity to compete regularly over the next four months in LIV,” he said when asked about why he joined LIV Golf.

Well, be it an opportunity or not, the golfer has already made a lot of money from the league. And he barely cares about what other PGA Tour professionals think about his decision. “The opinions on the Saudi league are very mixed depending on which stage of your career you’re in” he added.  But at the same time, he is also a bit frustrated about having so much time away from the course due to shorter LIV’s schedules. “There’s obviously quite a bit of time off with the LIV stuff at the moment, which is a little bit frustrating,” he said
