Woods has had several caddies during his professional career. Not to forget his longtime friend Steve Williams, who also wrote a book including his experiences with the player. However, there was another man who received the offer for working with the golfer even before Williams did.

After Tiger Woods ended his partnership with Mike “Fluff” Cowan in 1999, Woods needed a new man for the job. And his then-instructor, Butch Harmon, revealed his opinion about who Woods needed to hire. “I told Tiger there were two guys he should hire – Tony Navarro and Steve Williams,” Harmon said. “I spoke with Tony first. But he said, ‘No, I’m still working for Greg (Norman).’”

Well, not very common for someone to deny working with Woods. But according to Harmon, it was one of Tony Navarro’s best qualities. “That’s the kind of guy Tony is. He’s incredibly loyal. Whoever he works for, he’s 100 percent invested in that person.” Harmon added.

Moreover, Navarro’s contribution to his player’s game was evidently essential. Although there are no official records, no other caddies have won so many professional tournaments with as many players as Navarro. He was so good at his job, that according to Harmon, several golfers wanted to work with him. “All these guys came to him. Caddies don’t solicit guys. The player picks the caddie. These guys all wanted Tony to work for them.”
