The golf star’s unmatchable lead throughout most rounds gave huge hope to LIV Golf fans. In fact, fans started to look at the golfer’s potential win as the Saudi league’s victory over the PGA Tour. Moreover, even Patrick Reed was able to make it among the top 10 on the field by the end of the tournament.

When asked about his perception of LIV Golf’s authority on the sport, Koepka said, “We’re still the same people”. Not to forget that there have been several claims about LIV Golf players having accepted Greg Norman’s money-led offers as their retirement plans. Even PGA Tour professionals have accused the LIV defectors of being washed up after they made the transition. However, Koepka didn’t agree with these claims and decided to take a stand for all his fellow LIV golf stars.

“If I’m healthy, I know I can compete,” he said. “I don’t think any of the guys that played this event thought otherwise, either. When Phil plays good, we know he’s going to compete. P-Reed, the same thing.” According to the golfer, the media was responsible for creating a false image of the players’ capabilities on the field. “I think that’s just manufactured by the media that we can’t compete anymore; that we are washed up”.
