Defeating the top player on the leaderboard, Brooks Koepka, Rahm has done something no one could have thought of. During his post-match press conference, the golfer was asked about his thoughts on his victory. And to everyone’s surprise, Rahm revealed something that had everything to do with his fellow Spanish professional, Sergio Garcia.
“I think the main thing, something that gave me a lot of hope, and that kind of started when Sergio won in ’17,” Rahm claimed. Not to forget, Garcia’s sudden-death playoff against Justin Rose at the 2017 Masters was as exciting as it could get for the fans. “…pretty much every great-name Spanish player has won here,” Rahm added. “There’s got to be something here about having a Spanish passport. I don’t know, there’s something about the grounds that transmits into all of us”.

The Masters Tournament was set to be played for a total purse of $18 million this year. And the winner, Jon Rahm, received the standard 18 percent out of the total sum, which stands to be $3.24 million. Moreover, other than the winner’s share, Rahm also earned 100 Official World Golf Ranking points along with the title.

In fact, the golfer also earned 600 FedEx Cup points after acing the 2023 Masters! On the other hand, both Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka won $1.594 million each!
