Tiger Woods is back on the greens and looking healthy! The soon-to-be 49-year-old golf legend was spotted walking the course with his son Charlie Woods at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, ahead of the 2024 PNC Championship. This marks Woods’s first outing since The Open Championship in July 2024, and it’s a promising sign that he’s recovering well from his injuries and surgery. Despite having the option to use a cart, Woods opted to walk the 54-par holes, which is a great indication that his back and legs are handling the demands of golf.

Tiger Woods is back on the golf course, but he’s not sugarcoating his current form – he’s feeling “very, very rusty.” After spending five months away from the game to recover from his injuries, Woods is competing alongside his 15-year-old son Charlie at the 2024 PNC Championship. Woods admitted in an interview with the Golf Channel that his game is not where he wants it to be, saying “I don’t have my feels and my trajectory is off, my shape shots.” Despite being rusty, Woods is excited to be back on the course, and he’s looking forward to competing with his son.
He also acknowledged that he’s not at a competitive level, stating “I’m not competitively sharp.” Woods’ love for golf is still evident, and he’s enjoying the process of trying to figure out his game again, but as per him, “it’s more of a bonding experience to be able to have friends and family and be able to compete and have fun with Charlie.” As he shared, “I have fun. I love golf. I love the process of it. I love trying to figure it out. I’m certainly nowhere near as good as I used to be, but I, I still enjoy hitting the ball at the middle of the face. I enjoy hitting shape shots.” Woods’s passion for golf is still strong, and he’s grateful to be back on the course, doing what he loves.

Tiger Woods almost didn’t play the PNC Championship
Tiger Woods’s participation in the 2024 PNC Championship was far from certain, as he revealed that he had moments where he didn’t think he’d be able to play. Woods underwent his sixth back surgery in September, and his recovery was still underway when the event approached. In fact, he was forced to miss the Hero World Challenge, breaking a tradition he had maintained for years. This was a significant setback for Woods, who had been looking forward to competing in the event. However, he was determined to make it to the PNC Championship, which holds special significance for him as a family event.
Woods’ dedication to his family and his desire to share this experience with his son Charlie Woods ultimately led him to push through his recovery and participate in the event. As he shared, “I had the procedure done earlier to make sure I could compete at the PNC. One of the bigger highlights of the year for us as a family.” Woods’s love for his family and his commitment to creating special memories with them is truly inspiring. Despite the challenges he faced, Woods was able to overcome them and participate in the PNC Championship, making it a memorable experience for himself and his family.
