According to the reports, Mickelson maintained a public handicap index of +6.0 outside Scottsdale, Arizona’s Whisper Rock GC. His 20 rounds were then submitted to a competition between August 2019 and March 2020. Woods’ handicap index is +7.1, more than a full stroke higher than Mickelson’s.

Two of the USGA’s handicapping whizzes, Steve Edmondson and Lee Rainwater, calculated these handicap indexes. According to the new World Handicap System, the index must be calculated using the eight best scores from a golfer’s most recent 20 rounds. Therefore, the most recent rounds of Woods and Mickelson were considered. And it was clear why these two were the best.

With an incredible handicap index, Woods has great achievements under his belt. He is a fifteen-time major championship winner. The former No. 1 has created history by winning 82 PGA Tour events in his career since he turned pro in 1996.
