The golf world was shocked when Tiger Woods fired his longtime caddie, Steve Williams, without revealing the reason. After all, Williams had carried the golfer’s bag for 10+ years and won numerous championships with him. However, the most surprising thing about the news was that even the caddie didn’t expect their relationship to end this way.

“When he fired me, I thought he was firing me as a golf caddie,” Williams said after Woods fired him. “Not firing me as a friend.”

Notably, when Steve Williams married Kirsty Millar in 2006, he had asked the golf legend to be his best man. Therefore, when Woods broke all the connections with him after firing him as a caddie, it indeed took Williams by surprise. “To this day, I find that a hard pill to swallow, someone he spent 13 years with … the guy can’t even speak to you,” he added.

Woods faced many injuries in recent years, making his caddie jobless. However, he stayed by the golfer even though Woods told him to assist someone who is playing. Woods hasn’t played as many tournaments with LaCava as he did with Williams. Yet, he has won some prestigious events, including a major at the 2019 Masters, with LaCava on his bag.
