With the Masters tournament fast approaching, that’s all anyone can talk about at the moment. From the pre-tournament par-3 match to handing out of the green jacket, the event is filled with tradition after tradition. And the fanciest of them all is the champions dinner, wherein all the past champions gather for a meal on Wednesday evening. But this year, with the split between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour players, many have joked about imposing new rules. And a PGA Tour legend chimed in too with a hilarious suggestion!

At the end of 2022, the Masters announced that LIV golfers would be allowed to participate in the 2023 tournament. And now that moment is less than a month away. Having both PGA Tour pros and defectors playing at the same event worried many in the golf world. Moreover, players from the two sides sitting down in close proximity at the champions dinner worried them even more!

The dinner is one of the most sacred and celebrated rituals of the event. The champions religiously and eagerly look forward to it every year. And of course, some fear that the tension between the two sides may cause a scene to break out at the dinner.

TweeterAlliss, a parody account, even took to Twitter to address the issue recently. “To minimize the risk of an incident between PGA and LIV players, officials at Augusta confirm they will be providing American beer as the only alcoholic beverage at next month’s annual Masters Dinner,” he posted. And the 6-time major winner, Sir Nick Faldo added onto that and wrote“And plastic knives and forks!”

The golf world reacts to Faldo’s post

Faldo’s addition to the parody account post caught the attention of many in the golf world. From “lol” to “are they serious?” the fans went berserk reading Faldo’s hilarious post. While some laughed about it, others were gravely concerned. They also questioned what the golf pros would drink if there was no alcohol to be served at the event.

Some even shared the same concern about LIV golfers and PGA tour stars dining at the same table just hours before the event. They were also worried that the tension between them would lead to bigger problems.
