Brooks Koepka asserts his love for LIV Golf

The last two years saw PGA Tour defector Koepka struggling with knee-related issues, with the golfer crashing out of the 2022 Masters. Additionally, his move to Greg Norman’s LIV Golf saw him draw much flak from fans and detractors alike.

But, the 32-year-old has managed to turn things around, and how. He became the first player in the LIV Golf circuit to win two events. The Florida native also gave tough competition to 2023 Masters winner Jon Rahm at Augusta, eventually finishing at T2.

Earlier this month at the Masters, the former world no. 1 confirmed that his injury-laden form had a crucial role to play in his defection. Those comments set the ball rolling for several rumors, despite Koepka claiming that he was happy with his move.

So, does the golfer still stand by his decision to join LIV mainly due to his past physical challenges? “I think it would have made my decision — you can’t play what-ifs; that’s the whole thing. I was hurt, so this is the situation I’ve been in. I don’t know; could it have been different? Yeah, that’s pretty much what I said,” he shared ahead of LIV Singapore.

Koepka, who received a boisterous welcome at LIV Adelaide last week, further said, “Like I said at Augusta, I’m pretty happy with my decision.” Koepka, along with the likes of Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, and more, is set to headline LIV’s upcoming international event in Singapore.

How much will players earn at LIV Singapore?

After LIV’s resounding success in Adelaide, the Saudi-backed breakaway league will want to recreate its success at its Singapore event. LIV’s next event is set to take place at the famous Sentosa Golf Club, and it will boast an incredible prize purse of $25 million. Like previous tournaments, this event will also boast a 48-player field and will have 54 holes compared to the standard 72.

The eventual winner will take home $4,000,000 from the $2o million individual portion of the purse. All golfers who finish three tournament rounds will walk home with a share of the individual prize purse.

Meanwhile, the top 3 teams in the 12-team event will split $5 million, with the winning team taking home $3 million in earnings. The runner-up team will earn $1.5 million, and the team finishing third will pocket $500,000.
