Michael Brennan’s name has been a consistent sighting on the leaderboards on the PGA Tour Americas this season. The 23-year-old turned professional in 2024 after a standout career at Wake Forest University, where he won eight titles, including back-to-back ACC Championships in 2023 and 2024. And since joining the PGA Tour Americas, he’s been on a roll, winning three times in just four events this season. Through it all, the man carrying his bag was Jeff Kirkpatrick.

Like Brennan, Jeff Kirkpatrick is also a Wake Forest alum, and though it’s unclear exactly when they started working together, he’s been with Brennan for every win this season. Michael Brennan’s first win came at the BioSteel Championship in Canada, in August, followed by another win just 20 days later at the 2025 CRMC Championship, where he shot an incredible 26-under on the Craguns Legacy Course in Minnesota. Kirkpatrick was a part of the reason for these victories, and judging by his social media, he is also Brennan’s loudest cheerleader.

After Brennan’s first win at the 2025 BioSteel Championship, Jeff Kirkpatrick took to Instagram with a simple, but telling caption — “Just gettin goin.” Then, their most emotional moment together came to light in September when he reposted a tweet from the PGA Tour Americas. The post stated, “Korn Ferry Tour member, Michael Brennan’s caddie, Jeff, presented him with a @KornFerryTour card @ATBClassicGolf,” and Kirkpatrick couldn’t help but share it with his followers, too.

It was Michael Brennan’s third win on the PGA Tour Americas this season at the ATB Classic, and it elevated him into the Korn Ferry Tour via the Three-Victory promotion, a new step in his professional career. And it was none other than the most important man, Jeff Kirkpatrick, who handed him the card.

Even three weeks ago, when Brennan finished fourth at the Fortinet Cup Championship in Canada, Jeff posted again on Instagram — “Drinkin every night because we drink to Mike’s accomplishments.” It was a subtle gesture towards his achievements with a mix of pride and playfulness that defines their partnership.

Brennan is playing on a sponsor exemption at the Bank of Utah Championship, leading after a 7-under 64 and looking to become the first player to win on such an exemption since Nick Dunlap last year. It’s been a rapid rise, and Kirkpatrick has been there, grinding it out along with Brennan.

Jeff Kirkpatrick’s Unlikely Marathon Story

Before he was known as Michael Brennan’s caddie, Jeff Kirkpatrick had already made a name for himself, but in a rather unconventional way. Back in November 2023, he announced on social media that he would attempt to run a full marathon with, in his own words, “zero training or preparation.” What started as a friendly bet between friends quickly spiraled into something bigger.

He planned to run a loop between two fraternity houses a total of 33 times, 26.4 miles in all, and live-stream the entire ordeal on Instagram. “I, alone, with several of my peers as witnesses,” he wrote, explaining that the spontaneous challenge had turned into a fundraiser for causes close to his heart. “This began as a friendly bet, which gained way more attention than I anticipated. Now, I am going to attempt to complete this task for a good cause,” the post read.

If he finished, half the pledged donations were to go towards the Multiple Sclerosis research, and the other half towards a new Kappa Alpha (KA Tau chapter) event supporting the Hubie Poteat Fund, which helps send children with disabilities or financial hardships to summer camps.

It was a bold and impulsive move, but one of many that Kirkpatrick has made over the years. He frequently posts about the different challenges he takes on, publicly sharing them with the many followers he has on X and Instagram. What began as a bet became a community effort, turning a personal test of endurance into something much more meaningful, and a glimpse into the same drive and generosity he now brings to Brennan’s corner on tour.
