Tiger Woods, the golf legend, has achieved several many things since he turned pro in 1996. His first achievement in the endorsement was signing a deal with Nike, the huge athletic brand. Since then, he has achieved many milestones but also struggled in his personal and professional life. However, there was a time in 2007 when he reached a new height, which was not even achieved by legends like Michael Jordan.

It was the $100M deal collaboration with the energy drink brand. But that was not the best part. In 2007, Woods’ net worth was around $424 million, which was great, so the millions’ deal was an add-on. The former no.1 acquired something that no one expected him to achieve. At least not before other sports legends. But he was able to hit the mark.
Did Tiger Woods make wonders happen?
The world-renowned golfer Tiger Woods could grab a massive $100 million deal with Gatorade. In October 2007, they announced Woods was coming out into the market with his sports drink brand. It was the first U.S. deal with a beverage company. But the best part was that he was the first to have his licensing agreement.
The golf legend had 61 victories by 2007, along with 13 major championship wins. And the green jacket winner was the first to join hands with a stable brand and had a license agreement. Even Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, and Peyton Manning didn’t had their licensing deals then with the company.

The brand was set to introduce the product “Gatorade Tiger” in March 2008, which was supposed to be followed by more products. The major championship winner did not leave any opportunity to give more input of ideas. He even chose a blend of citrus, grape, and cherry flavors.
Mark Steinberg, the former agent at IMG, said, “There have been some licensing elements to things we’ve done.” According to him, everything that Woods planned on doing with the brand was only to create new products. Mark and Woods were looking for an opportunity where they could license their business. And when they got it, Woods grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
What did Woods say about the deal?
The collaboration with Gatorade was not new for Woods; instead, it was always in his action of plans. It was an ideal match for him, and he said, “Gatorade has been part of my game plan for years, whether I’m training or competing.”
