Many of the PGA Tour pros opted out and chose to play for LIV Golf over the course of the last two years. As a result, the PGA Tour went ahead and banned the LIV Golf defectors from playing in any PGA Tour tournaments in the future, including the Presidents Cup and the Ryder Cup.
Ever since the question of whether or not LIV Golfers will be allowed to play in the Ryder Cup has been brought to light, everyone has had a strong opinion about it, and this time, the one coming forward with his is Welsh golfer, Ian Woosnam.

Ian Woosnam shares his thoughts about LIV golfers playing in the Ryder Cup
Scheduled for 29th September to 1st October 2023, the forthcoming 44th edition of the Ryder Cup will be hosted at the Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, Italy.
While the tournament is known for its on-field drama, this time controversies have surfaced even before the players have hit the greens in the USA vs. Europe golf extravaganza. The Ryder Cup gained attention when queries were raised about the participation of LIV defectors who have abandoned their former Tour for higher pay among other reasons.
It is still uncertain whether or not the American LIV Golfers will be seen in Italy or not, owing to their low FedEx and OWGR ratings, but Ian Woosnam has something to say for the European team.

“We need the strongest field of European players doesn’t matter what tour they play on,” said the Welsh golfer stating if the Ryder Cup wants to continue how it has been for the last 40 years, it needs the best players on the team. Many big names of LIV Golf such as Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, and Lee Westwood can make a good addition to the European team.
When sharing his thoughts, Woosnam also mentioned another great golfer, Seve Ballesteros, “Wonder what Seve would of thought of it all.”

Late Ballesteros led the European team to a meticulous victory in 1997. Ballesteros has left an embarking mark on the Ryder Cup history. He participated in eight Ryder Cup teams as a player and also served as the captain of Team Europe in 2005 and ’07.
