Golf has produced some of the most colorful and memorable personalities in the world of sports. From the iconic swagger of Arnold Palmer to the unorthodox style of Jim Furyk, golf has always had its fair share of characters. And it looks like one of the game’s current stars, Jon Rahm, maybe adding his name to that list in a whole new way. The Spanish golfer recently announced, “Once I retire from golf, I’ll be in the booth 100%“. This news has sparked a wide range of reactions among golf fans, with some eagerly anticipating the prospect of hearing Rahm in the booth, while others are more skeptical.
From the fairway to the booth: golfer to broadcaster

Jon Rahm’s recent revelation that he plans to become a broadcaster after retiring from golf has caused quite a stir among fans of the sport. As the current number-one-ranked golfer in the world, Rahm’s announcement has sparked many interesting reactions and discussions about what he could bring to the world of broadcasting.
It’s also worth noting that Rahm’s PGA Tour earnings total an incredible $48,647,583 as per spotrac, placing him in 12th place on the all-time money list – a truly impressive feat that was cemented by his outstanding performance at the 2023 Masters.

This led to a variety of responses from fans, with some expressing excitement at the prospect of hearing Rahm in the booth, while others were more skeptical. One fan said, “Rahm and Jason Day would be awesome in the booth”. Others simply said “He’d be an epic commentator”.
Some fans also expressed excitement, “Rahm dropping a mixtape after he retires? That’s awesome.” This would certainly be an interesting career move for the golfer, and one that fans would likely be eager to hear.

Not everyone was convinced, however. One fan said, “I just don’t see the personality needed for the gig…. Incredible golfer. Broadcaster? Idk.” Others were more concerned about the trend of giving broadcasting jobs to former players, “I have to think there are amazing broadcasters out there who need the job. Let’s stop giving these to former players all the time. I prefer former caddies or a guy like @smyliekaufman10 who doesn’t have it anymore but once did”.

Some fans also expressed doubt, “He was horrible at it when they let him try a few weeks ago. Got everything wrong and was a complete bore.” However, others disagreed, saying that, “Would listen to this guy all day long. Did an amazing job recently”. One fan summed up their feelings simply by saying, “That’s why he’s the GOAT,“ referring to Rahm’s status as one of the best golfers in the world. Another fan was more effusive in their praise, saying that Rahm was “really damn good on the mic”.
