52-year-old Annika Sorenstam is an inspiration to millions of women in the world. In fact, several female athletes look up to the golf star as their role model in the game of golf. With over 72 official LPGA tournament victories, Sorenstam stands on a pedestal no one has been able to reach. In fact, her unfathomable wins also include 10 major championship titles. She even won the 2021 U.S. Senior Women’s Open after she made a strong return post-retirement.

Despite all her talent and skills, Sorenstam believes that none of it would have been possible if she didn’t have enough support from her colleagues, family, and friends, especially men! Currently at Las Colinas Country Club for the Invited Celebrity Classic tournament, the golfer opened up about the importance of consistent support from male athletes in the industry for her and other women golfers.

“I think it’s really important if you look at the big perspective,” she said. “I mean, we need everybody to support each other, especially now. Obviously, we talk about getting women into sports and keeping them there. You need everybody’s support.” She even said that anyone who tries to demotivate such hard-working individuals should “think twice about it”.

“It’s a hard thing to do,” she said. “I think we should encourage anybody who wants to get better.” Well, her statements definitely acted like another reason for women to feel empowered and motivated to thrive toward their dreams.

Other than working on basic golfing skills, one needs to keep a lot of other things in mind to become the best player on the course. And Annika Sorenstam recently shared something that, in her opinion, is the most important aspect of being a great golfer. “I think it really is about performing under pressure,” the golf ace stated. According to her, a golfer’s mind and body need to work in sync for them to perform their best shots in any given tournament!
