The PGA Tour vs LIV Golf controversy is probably one of the longest-running issues in the golf world as of today. Not even one golf fan is clueless of how things have been between professionals, officials, and even supporters of either of the two leagues. However, the banter between the two is not ending any time soon. And we say this as another Twitter user has ignited a war among fans on the platform with his presumptuous yet controversial statement. And it had everything to do with Jon Rahm!
Fans involve Jon Rahm in the never ending PGA Tour vs LIV Golf squabble
It has almost been a year since Greg Norman launched his Saudi-backed LIV Golf League and took away some of the most talented players from the PGA Tour. With Phil Mickelson as their first supporter, the golf shark successfully lured in legends including Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and even rising stars like Cameron Smith. However, despite the huge transition, there were some who couldn’t give up their loyalty to the American League. And these loyalists included Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, and of course, 2023 Masters Champion, Jon Rahm.

The Spaniard has been in the news for a long time even before his recent win at Augusta. Not to forget how he ended up being in headlines after his claims of being the “best player in the world”. Nonetheless, his confidence in his game didn’t lead him toward the highly-paid LIV Golf offers. But when it comes to the fans, their opinions can be, well, poles apart. A similar thing happened when a fellow Twitter user shared his opinion about the possibility of Rahm joining LIV Golf in the near future and its consequences.
“If Jon Rahm left the PGAT and went to LIV Golf I think the establishment would crumble,” the tweet said. And as expected, the tweet went viral and ignited an uproar among golf fans on social media. Notably, it took only a few hours for the platform to blow up with comments and reactions to the tweet from golf fans from all over the world.
Here’s what some of them had to say:
If you think Rory is crawling under a rock as we speak, if that happened, he wouldn't be able to play putt-putt.😄

No need for him to go to LIV. Your product has zero gravitas. The exhibitions mean nothing in real competitive golf circles, and if you want to be one of the greats you need to win Majors and PGA/DP significant titles.

LIV said the same thing numerous times before. DJ, Cam, Brooks Bryson… The PGAT keeps on replacing with guys like Young, Bhatia, Cole, Theegala… the list is long.

You're in for a huge disappointment. Not one single big name player is joining LIV moving forward.
Stacked with "big names" in their late 40s or 50s any new players will be coming from the Asian Tour. Newsflash, the Asian Tour is weak as piss!

U mean when it happens. He’s very close to Phil

Remember when rahm called 54 hole shotgun no cut events not proper tournaments I don’t see him going
— Tommy Gavin (@teebles27) May 1, 2023
So rahm is bigger than Phil cam brook dj combined? Bc those guys surely didn’t crumble pgat.

and you want golf to crumble?

While a lot of these fans were against the idea of Rahm joining the Saudi League, others suggested it was only a matter of time before the Spanish pro made the controversial decision. Nonetheless, the debate among the fans continues and the tweet is still receiving tons of new reactions!

What are the odds of Jon Rahm joining LIV Golf?
Rahm has been in rumors of joining the Saudi circuit several times since last year. However, he has been continuously dismissing any such rumors coming his way. Not to forget when a ‘LIV Golf Insider’ page claimed about the golfer’s plans to join the league, Rahm responded by saying, “I must inform you that you have started a losing streak because you and your source are wrong.”
Moreover, the golfer has been having a great time on the PGA Tour with his recent achievements. And it has indeed been a long journey for him to reach his current world no. 1 position, which he might lose immediately after joining LIV Golf.
