Miami Open 2021 Announces Exciting News for Fans Amid Covid-19 Uncertainties

The new normal for organizers to hold tennis events is having a lot of COVID-19 protocols. And on some occasions, premium tournaments have been canceled because of the ongoing pandemic. In some good news, however, ATP 1000 Masters tournament and WTA 1000 tournament, Miami Open, will take place this year albeit with limited spectators.
In a statement released by the organizers, Miami Open will now be held with limited fans at the same venue, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida,

“The Miami Open presented by Itau will host a limited number of fans for this year’s tournament, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.”

Furthermore, the Miami Open will make masks mandatory for employees and fans. With limited spectators, they will be seated with social distancing in mind.
“We are pleased to be able to offer fans the unique opportunity to see the greatest players in the world compete live for one of the most coveted titles in tennis. In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, we remain committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.”

The Miami Open will take place after a year’s absence. Back in March 2020, the coronavirus was at its peak and the tennis season was suspended. Miami Open and Indian Wells, which makes up the ‘Sunshine Double’ was canceled. There is clarity now on the 2021 edition of the Miami Open, but the Indian Wells remains in limbo.
Miami Open 2021 will be held from March 22nd to April 4th. The organizers had earlier said: “We are pleased that plans to host the Miami Open presented by Itaú, March 22-April 4, 2021, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida”

The tournament in Miami also sees a certain Roger Federer as its defending champion. And it looks likely that Federer will defend his title this year. And on the women’s side, World No.1 Ash Barty is the defending champion.
