The current captain of the New York Yankees, Aaron Judge, had a great year in last year’s regular season. He bet on himself by not accepting the front office’s offer of $213 million, and in the season, he proved why he did so. He became the AL career home run leader by hitting 62 home runs breaking the legendary Roger Maris’ record. For a great season he had, he also earned the title of AL MVP for the first time in his seven-year career in MLB. Then he entered free agency and had a lot of offers to choose from before re-signing with the Bronx Bombers and succeeding the legendary captain Derek Jeter. The outfielder also sought help from the outside.

He took the help of the previous captain of the Yanks, Hall of Famer Derek Jeter. Who better to help him out other than the person who wore pinstripes all his career? But the offer that the ex-captain gave changed after the outfielder signed his deal with the Yanks.

Recently, the reigning MVP of the Yanks, Aaron Judge, appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.’ There, he talked about various things. And one of those things was if he spoke to Jeter about free agency if he sought his help in going through all of it. While All Rise did not tell the exact piece of advice he got from the ex-captain, he did say that he talked to him throughout the whole process.

Answering Fallon’s question about talking to Jeter in the free agency, he said he did speak to him about all of it. The ex-Yankee, in return, said, “You know what? I’ll take you- I’ll take you out for lunch or something. We’ll kind of talk about things.” But the conversation between the current and former captain did not stop there. After All Rise signed his contract, the Hall of Famer said, “well, now you’re going to take me out for breakfast, lunch, dinner,” which garnered a laugh from everyone in the studio.

The former athlete was right in a lot of ways. Judge has had a great season and signed a significant contract to stay with the Yankees. And then, he didn’t need Jeter to take him out to lunch. But it was he who could take the ex-captain out on all three meals of the day.

How did the Yankees play in 2022 with Judge as their star?

The Yanks started off the 2022’s regular season with a blast that went great up until the mid-summer classic in July. After that, the team’s performance started to go downhill while shocking everybody else in the league.

At one point, it seemed like they won’t be making it to the playoffs. But thanks to Judge and his tremendous hits in the ballpark that helped the team win AL East and clinch the playoff berth. They may not have won the World Series, but considering the way the second half of the group went, they had a great season.
