With a 22-year-long career of greatness, Alex Rodriguez has established himself as one of the best in MLB history. It’s been over six years since Rodriguez bid farewell to the game in 2016. The former World Champ, however, still hasn’t stopped making strides in the baseball world.

Throughout his legendary career, A-Rod broke countless records and won numerous accolades to his name. Therefore, to commemorate his iconic career, a college renamed its ballpark after the 14x All-Star Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez. And most recently, A-Rod lit up the college baseball scene in Miami by visiting the ballpark named after him.

Despite any hurdles or controversies that Alex battled through in his career, one cannot deny that he is indeed one of the best ever to swing a baseball bat. After retiring from the game that A-Rod loved dearly, he moved from New York City to Miami, where he grew up with his family. There, the University of Miami honored the baseball legend by naming their college’s home ground after him.

The name of the ballpark of the University of Miami’s college baseball team is Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. And since Rodriguez is a big fan of baseball, whether it is at the college or big league level, he never leaves a chance to become a cheerleader for the game. He recently visited the ballpark for the University of Miami’s final home game of the season.

While the big league is nearing the middle of the regular season, college baseball is about to have its World Series next month. And who is better than the baseball legend himself to cheer on the Miami Hurricanes baseball team for their playoffs?

A-Rod once had the chance to play baseball for the University of Miami!

After graduating from Westminster Christian High School in Miami, Florida, in 1993, the University of Miami offered A-Rod a baseball scholarship. With it, they also recruited him to play football for them. However, after signing an intent letter to play baseball there, Alex turned down the scholarship. And then he signed with the Seattle Mariners for $1.3 million with a $1 million bonus.

Even if A-Rod had opted to play college baseball, he would have probably played in the big league sometime later in his life. But instead, A-Rod wrote history in a way fate wanted him to.
