The AL East race this season has been worth every penny. With only a few days left in the regular season, three teams are still battling it out for the crown. And the Blue Jays’ recent loss to the Red Sox, paired with the Yankees’ win over the White Sox, has only tightened things up.

But it’s not just about the one-game swings anymore… Rather, what’s really making headlines is a Blue Jays veteran calling out what he sees as MLB’s bias. And after a couple of controversial calls went against Toronto, he may have stirred the pot in a big way.

“And then Springer says what all Blue Jays fans were thinking, and I’m sure they’ll be happy to know that their players are feeling it too, because Springer is going to say that if they want New York to win, just tell me and give it to them already… Blue Jays fans are feeling that like, they’re rigging it for New York.” Jomboy Media decoded the heated conversation between Blue Jays manager John Schneider, George Springer, and the umpire.

In the second inning, with the bases loaded and Boston up 1-0, Springer ripped a 2-1 pitch down the third-base line. However, third base umpire Scott Barry immediately called it foul. Replays showed that the ball actually crossed the bag, meaning it should’ve been fair. Now, what’s worse is that plays like that can’t be reviewed.

But is this an intentional case by the umpires to let the Yankees go ahead in the chart? At least, Springer thinks so!

Just when the Blue Jays are chasing their first AL East title in a decade, things are slipping at the wrong time. Tuesday’s loss was their fifth in six games. And that’s why the botched calls that went against Springer caused so much uproar.

The Yankees are going all guns blazing behind the Blue Jays

The Blue Jays have no time to pause and reboot, as their cushion of a 6-game difference with the Yankees is gone now. With just one game difference between the two, it’s a matter of time before any of them takes the podium. And if you check what the Yankees clubhouse is thinking after securing their postseason berth, the Jays’ heartbeat will surely get high.

“The expectation here is to win,” outfielder Cody Bellinger said. “This is the first step. We’re playing really well, but ultimately, we know we have a lot more to do.” The first step was securing the postseason, and the next step would be winning the division.

On the Yankees’ side, things are looking favorable with the schedule they’ve got left. They’ll close out the regular season with two more against the White Sox and then three against the Orioles. That sets up a real chance for the Yankees to finish strong. And if Toronto continues to stumble against Boston, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say New York could very well take the division.

The Yankees’ clubhouse has already been through its share of battles to lock in a postseason spot. Now that they’ve done it, there’s a growing sense of confidence about pushing for more. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays’ missteps are only making that path a little smoother for New York.
