Controversial Legend Barry Bonds’ “Trust Issues” Once Came to Light as Former Agent Made a Stunning Revelation

Barry Bonds and controversies are integrally related. Even his most devoted supporters cannot overlook this aspect of his personality. Due to his aggressive attitude, this baseball star has welcomed severe criticism from almost every person related to him, including his Former Agent, Rod Wright. 

Wright discovered the negative aspects of this MLB Legend’s personality, which changed their close relationship as player and agent. In Jeff Pearlman’s book, Love Me, Hate Me: Barry Bonds, Wright opened his mind and expressed the Bonds’ dark sides he explored.

In the Sports world, players often go through immense pressure, creating issues that affect their behavior. However, this only goes with something other than the 7x MVP. Even after retirement, he is still famous for his rude and aggressive behavior. Pearlman, before writing Love Me, Hate Me: Barry Bonds interviewed around 500 people who have been related to the Former San Francisco Giant player in some way and recorded their opinions. One of them was Rod Wright, the Former Agent of both Bobby Bonds and Barry Bonds.

The relationship between Wright and the former SF Giants star didn’t end on a friendly note. They had several disputes that even took things to legal fights. While sharing his times with the Home Run King, on page 126 of the book, this former agent said, “Barry has trust issues. If someone gets too close, like I did, he automatically backs away. It’s a terrible way to go through life, but it’s who he is.”

The agent worked with the father and son for a long time but didn’t know about Barry’s dark side. Not only this the book’s account even sheds light as to why the Home Run King left his agent.

Barry’s Ambition to be a Movie Star Made Him Leave Wright

Players often appear in movies and TV shows. The 14x All-Star is no exception to this tradition, and according to his former agent, Bonds has always been ambitious to be in movies. According to Wright, Bonds left his side in a belief that large agency could turn him into a movie star, “Barry was expressing an interest in acting, and I guess he believed the Beverly Hills Sports Council could take him to the next level.”

Bonds appeared in an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 as a baseball player, but that didn’t help him grow his career as a movie star. Later, he did appear in a few shows, including a movie, ‘Rookie of the Year.’ However, it was not enough to be a movie star, though. With a satisfactory smile, even Wright asked, “How did that work out?”
