Considering the post, Snytv provided an update on Instagram, wherein a segment of the update read, “Doc Gooden posted this picture today with Shohei Ohtani.” 

The post was enough to give joy to the Ohtani and Mets fans to predict the future. One user, replying to the post, wrote, “Former #16 Met and future #16 Met.”

The other fan had similar observations as he replied, “Doc’s legacy recruitment.” The fan’s emotions were in line with what everyone expected it to be. Even the Mets legend in conversation with the SNY accepted it.

He said Shohei Ohtani could wear #16, his legacy if the Japanese star comes to the Mets in free agency. Though putting the sentiments aside, what makes the Mets favorite to take Ohtani? It’s their plan, which was revealed a few days back.

The Mets put their prospects on the line with Ohtani in mind

The Mets have planned to trade their three prospects to make the Ohtani trade possible. It includes their number 1 prospect, Kevin Parada, third baseman Brett Baty, and others. In reverse, they will sign Ohtani, third baseman Anthony Rendon, and two more players.

The deal can happen before the trade deadline. But given Ohtani’s recent performances, the trade price is likely to increase. And if they are serious, would Doc play a role in it to make it happen? Only time can tell.
