Baseball fans rarely forgive or forget. Ever since Major League Baseball started testing for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, over 100 players have been suspended. And history is repeating itself yet again with San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. It doesn’t matter if steroid allegations regarding a player are true or not. Once tainted, an athlete’s reputation takes a hard hit that can take a while to recover from. Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Roger Clemens are all testament to the fact.

Despite being in retirement, some fans still treat these players harshly. And now that Tatis is back after an 80-game suspension, something similar is happening to him. Having pleaded innocent after steroid accusations last year, the Padres player is standing firm in his belief of innocence.

Standing up for oneself is not always easy but El Nino is not only doing it in a stadium full of unhappy fans, he’s doing it in style. At a recent game of San Diego Padres vs Chicago Cubs, Tatis made his second appearance at an MLB game after his return. After the relatively quiet first game set last weekend, fans let the shortstop know they hadn’t forgotten his absence, nor the reason for it.

A part of the crowd loudly started chanting “He’s On Steroids” as Tatis stood in position. But completely unfazed, he turned around to acknowledge the crowd. And then, he started dancing! Busting out some moves in rhythm with the cries, the young player seemed completely unbothered. He even seemed to be enjoying it!

The whole thing didn’t last long, and some fans even started laughing, but it was still an unforgettable moment at Wrigley Field.

Barstool Baseball aptly captioned their post, “Fernando Tatis Jr is embracing the villain role.” And while many are ready to move on from the debacle, not everyone is happy.
