Derek Jeter is probably the best thing that has happened for the New York Yankees over the past two or three decades. A born leader and a sensational player from the plate, Jeter led the Yankees to greatness. He was a lucky charm for the Pinstripes.
But when the Yankees drafted Jeter in 1992, he faced a lot of difficulties in his early days. Notably, the Yankees drafted Jeter in 1992 when he was just 18. The Pinstripes drafted him as their sixth overall pick. But little did the Yankees or Jeter know he will write a new chapter in the Bronx.

By the time Derek Jeter retired from baseball in 2014, he already had five World Series titles in his cabinet. Under his leadership, the Yankees, once again, become a superpower in Major League Baseball.

“Derek Jeter learned a valuable lesson over the past 12 months. It’s called reality. When the Yankees drafted him in the first round last summer, it was a dream come true. But then reality struck, and it hit him like a ton of bricks,” said Jack Doles.

Even Jeter himself admitted that he had a terrible rookie league for the Yanks in 1993.
“I hated last year. Last year was terrible for me. The rookie league was terrible. I was homesick, I was not playing good. It was just as bad as it could get…,” Jeter said.

The former Yankee also shared an interesting incident with one of the senior Yankees players. Jeter revealed how he was the youngest one in the Yankees squad.
“I was talking to that guy Eagle a while ago. He asked how old I was and he said you have a girlfriend? And I said, yes! He said because he has a daughter of my age. So, it’s a little odd being the youngest one here,” Jeter added.
